SAP-OMS

OMS is the abbreviation for Output Management System. The term is used in the SAP environment, among others. There, an OMS is understood as a print server that takes over the management of print data outside the SAP system and notifies the SAP system via push messages about the current status of the print jobs sent from the system. In the SAP system, the so-called coupling type “E” is used as the connection type to the output device for an OMS. Output management systems for SAP systems have to be certified by SAP. The BENS server has such a certificate.

SAP

SAP software is a modular ERP software. The classic SAP R/3 modules are essentially: FI/CO (Finance/Controlling), MM (Materials Management), SD (Sales and Distribution), PP (Production Planning) and HR (Human Resources). These modules from the classic R/3 system still represent the core of SAP software today and were later supplemented by many other products to form the “SAP Business Suite”.

Samba

Samba is a free program package that makes it possible to use Windows functions such as file and print services under other operating systems and to assume the role of a domain controller. Among other things, it implements the SMB/CIFS protocol for this purpose. With Samba print data can be transferred to shared printer definitions. The BENS Server supports the protocol both for receiving and sending print data and uses the abbreviation SMB for this.

RBarc

RBarc stands for a series of programs with which barcodes can be generated on-the-fly and WYSIWYG in SAP systems. All programs have been written in ABAP – SAP’s own programming language – and thus fit seamlessly into existing SAP systems. Available are: RBarc+ for all 1D barcodes, RBarc/QRCode for the 2D code QR Coce and Swiss QR Code, RBarc/Datamatrix for the 2D code Datamatrix, RBarc/PDF417 for the 2D code PDF417 and RBarc/OMR for OMR codes.

Raw protocol

Raw protocol is the Windows name for the port of a socket connection (see Socket).

RAM

The main memory or random access memory (RAM) is the volatile data memory of computers. It stores the data that the computer is actively using so that it can be accessed quickly. The more programs a system runs, the more memory it requires.

Putty

process automation

Automation of processes that were otherwise performed manually. Example: sorting documents that are in the output tray of a printer. If this task is done manually, it usually takes a long time, is error-prone and ties up human resources. Such a task can be implemented in the BENS Server via a plugin. This automates the process. The process becomes faster and error-free.
