Unicode

Unicode is a standard for the uniform and continuous encoding of characters from almost all writing systems in the world. It is administered by the Unicode Consortium and contains meanwhile about 150,000 different characters. For printers that do not support the Unicode encoding of characters, the BENS Server offers the Unicode Filter. With this filter, Unicode encoded characters are recoded on-the-fly and conventional character sets. This solution enjoys special popularity in Asian countries like China and Hong Kong.
