  • Void

  • An area with a high reflectance value within a part of the barcode symbol whose reflectance ought to be low.
    Compare: "Spot".

  • Variable Paritytion

  • Procedure for encoding additional data in a barcode symbol using a special array of symbol characters of uneven an even parity (e.g. EAN-13).

  • Verification

  • A technical process for measuring a barcode symbol to determine whether it corresponds to the specifications predefined for this symbol.
